VADH: CRIME THRILLER OF MIDDLE AGED COUPLE SANJAY MISHRA & NEENA GUPTA

Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta have always been exceptional in terms of acting. It is another matter that it took time for him to be seen as a main artist from character artist, but the pleasant aspect is that now roles are being written especially for him. Director Jaspal Singh’s ‘Sandhu Ki Vadh’ is also the story of an elderly couple, where both the hero and the heroine are middle aged

Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta have always been exceptional in terms of acting. It is another matter that it took time for him to be seen as a main artist from character artist, but the pleasant aspect is that now roles are being written especially for him. Director Jaspal Singh’s ‘Vadh’ is also the story of an elderly couple, where both the hero and the heroine are middle aged. The interesting thing is that this is not a story entangled in the web of relationships. This is the story, where Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra) stares into the void and says, ‘We have not murdered but it was Vadh’. How and why does a schoolmaster who cannot sleep for three days after slapping a child, dare to kill someone by inserting a knife into his throat? The story of ‘Vadh’ revolves around this crime and thrill.

Story of the film ‘Vadh’

It is said that such a thing as perfect crime is not possible in the world of crime, but the story of ‘Vadh’ is based on such a foolproof plan of a crime, in which the line between the criminal and the victim gets blurred by the end of the story. Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra) is a very selfish retired schoolmaster. Shambhunath’s wife Manju Mishra (Neena Gupta), fond of romantic stories, is suffering from knee disease. The couple borrows a huge sum of money from local goon Prajapati Pandey (Saurabh Sachdeva) on high interest to settle and settle their son Guddu’s higher education abroad. Whenever Pandey comes for recovery, he not only brings alcohol and meat to the Brahmin family’s house and consumes it but also indulges in debauchery by bringing girls. Tortured Shambhunath is forced to swallow humiliation. Shambhunath, who is humiliated by Pandey, is also a victim of severe neglect by his son Guddu, who has settled abroad. But despite this, he does not complain about life. He loves his wife, teaches tuition to the children of the neighborhood, but one day the circumstances become such that the dam of his patience breaks and he kills Pandey. He has no regrets for his actions, as he believes that asuras are to be killed and Pandey was one such asura. He turns this murder into such a full-proof planning that it is almost impossible to get caught, but the twist in the story comes when the police officer (Manav Vij) and the MLA of the area (Jaspal Singh Sandhu) also Afraid of being exposed, they start looking for clues to Pandey’s death. Will the police and the MLA be able to find the loopholes in Shambhunath’s perfect crime and send him to jail? You will have to watch the film to know this.

The story picks up the pace in the second part of ‘Vadh’

Director and writer Rajeev has woven this crime-thriller in Gwalior and the specialty of the film is the resorting to crime of a common man in a special situation. The first part of the film is quite sluggish, the exercise of setting up the characters becomes long, but the story picks up in the second part. In this thriller, the director also shows the economic and social irony of the small town through the characters. The story also has light hearted comic moments. The gruesome dismemberment of him after the murder is told through background music and voiceover, which gives goosebumps. The sequence in which the mouse is caught in the mousetrap is symbolic, showing the sharp thinking of the character. Sapan Narula’s cinematography is good. From the streets of Gwalior to some historical places, he has captured the city very well in his camera. Also the background music is strong. But thriller elements are few. This film reminds you of ‘Drishyam’ to some extent. At one point the story becomes a bit predictable. But in the end, you definitely take a breath of peace.

Neena Gupta breathed life into her character

Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta act as two strong pillars of acting in the film. The transformation of a retired schoolmaster from being helpless to angry shows the excellent graph of Sanjay Mishra’s acting. Neena Gupta has breathed life into the character of Dharma Bhiru, a woman suffering from knee pain. The languor of his demeanor reminds one of someone close to him. Their chemistry as husband and wife is amazing. Manav Vij as a police officer is good, while Saurabh Sachdeva as Pandey is annoying to the limit and this is the strength of his acting. Other characters are also fine.

Why to watch: Thriller fans and Sanjay Mishra- Neena Gupta’s soulful performances can watch this movie.
