An FBI agent traveling on a subway train stands up to offer a seat to a woman who has boarded the train with her daughter. The girl is having fun and laughter for some time when her eyes fall on a young man who slips a black bag under the seat and gets down just before the train starts. There is a bomb blast. Fortunately, the FBI agent would have stopped the train before that and got most of the passengers down. Netflix’s new web series ‘The Night Agent’ begins a year after the fictional incident when this FBI agent is put on special duty in a small room in the basement of the White House, the official residence of the US President. . The job is to listen to the incoming calls on the phone installed in that room and inform about it to the concerned authorities immediately. This is a very secret mission, ‘Night Agent’, running under the protection of the President.
Thrilling series on pulp literature
These spies, former or present, who work as night agents, are like detectives from the detective novels of Surendra Mohan Pathak or Ved Prakash Sharma. In India, OTT may have shown little power to make a series on pulp literature, but American producers know how to appreciate the popularity of such stories. The entire blueprint of the web series ‘The Night Agent’, based on the novel of the same name written by Matthew Quirk, has been prepared by the same Sean Ryan who has previously made web series like ‘SWAT’ and ‘Shield’. Sean Ryan is the creator of the series, so it is sure to have life in it. Sean has assembled a great team of writers and directors for the series. This is the story of a former CEO of an IT company who accidentally or rather accidentally collides with a young FBI agent. The two speak to each other for the first time through an eye call on the same phone that rings when a night agent is in danger.
Story of Abhimanyu trapped in Chakravyuh
The story unfolds slowly and with every detail new characters are added to it. The President’s chief of staff has full faith in the young night agent she has hired. There is an exchange of trust going on at the same level that the IT-savy young woman finds a way to open the hard disk left behind by her relatives. It turns out that the bomb blast in the subway which took place inside the tunnel due to the FBI agent stopping the train, was actually where there was a person present, to kill whom the attackers had planned to destroy the entire area. Had made preparations. And, the next attack is about to happen again and whose days are numbered. A pair of Bunty and Babli type also comes to the fore in the links connecting the attackers. Both are dreaded murderers and they killed both the relatives of the former CEO of the IT company. The case gets stuck there when it is not understood who is right and who is wrong and the night agent who is running away from his own people gets trapped in a maze. The story ends its first season by hinting at the expansion of the second season.
The series rests on the spirited efforts of the pairs
The main attraction of the web series ‘The Night Agent’ is its pairings. One pair belongs to Gabriel and Lucien. The svelte FBI agent turned Gabrielle Basso and the somewhat Mrunal Thakur lookalike Lucien Buchanan’s chemistry develops smoothly. As an IT professional trying to protect her relatives from assassins, Lucien has accompanied Gabrielle in every scene of the series. There is also love in both. Both also start loving each other. But, when, where, at what point will these two characters meet in the second season and whether they will meet or not, this mystery will still remain. The second pair is of the two killers in the series. Eve and Phoenix as a pair do a great job of maintaining the gruesome juice of the series. When Eve Horlow, played by murderess Ellen, who enjoys seeing blood, demands a girl from her lover and the lover repeatedly laments about his profession, the scene is a mirage of human sensibilities of people immersed in the world of crime. It becomes a very emotional scene.
Perfect Series for Binge Watch
All the 10 episodes of the series have been directed by a total of five directors and perhaps that’s why the series seems a bit random. The plot of a passionate relationship blossoming between the Vice President’s daughter and his security personnel does not make sense. When this daughter, who is learning painting, breaks her own safety circle only for physical pleasure, then the story becomes weak there too. However, in the last two episodes of the series, the story picks up again and almost succeeds in their plan, with the efforts of the hero and heroine of the series to sabotage the plan of the killers at the last moment. The action scenes of the series are very thrilling. The story of the series is so well woven that the makers have not felt any need for sex scenes in it. In the case of Indian languages, only Hindi dubbing is available.
