Bhola, which came out last week, and Gumraah (2023), which comes out this Friday, are two new lessons in Hindi cinema. These guidelines still apply to Hindi film viewers. Lessons should be learned by movie critics who lavished praise on the movie “Bhola” despite the fact that it struggled to earn Rs 60 crore in its first week (or eight days) of release. The film “Bhola” teaches us that it is crucial to acclimatise the characters to their new surroundings before remaking a movie. The film “Gumraah” (2023) also teaches us that not every “Arjun Reddy” can be transformed into “Kabir Singh” in its remake. especially when the main character of the remake’s speciality is simply to look like him
Time to exit remake:
The film ‘Gumraah’ (2023), a remake of the Tamil film ‘Thadam’ released just four years ago, is another example of Hindi cinema going astray. Aditya Roy Kapur is playing a double role in the remake of Arun Vijay’s stellar performance ‘Thadam’. The crime connection of both the characters is interesting but the characterization of both the characters in the Hindi remake is very filmy on the lines of Jai Khanna’s dialogues in ‘Jubilee’. The first lesson of working in films is that one has to create a world which is imaginary but seems real. The entire magic of the film is based on this one charisma. From the acting to even the slightest fakeness of the atmosphere, the audience cannot tolerate it these days.
Shivani! the name is not enough:
Police suspects both the characters of Aditya Roy Kapur in the film Gumraah (2023). The theory of one police officer is working behind both of them. Mrunal Thakur is playing the character named Shivani from Rani Mukherjee’s film ‘Mardaani’ here. Those who have seen Mrinal Thakur in the film ‘Sita Ramam’, they may be shocked to see this character of her. On-screen actresses who play cops have also been feeling the need of a crash course for a long time. Do you remember, in a scene of the film ‘Saaho’, when Shraddha Kapoor jumps and lands on the ground, instead of the criminal, her focus goes on grooming her hair! Similarly, Mrunal Thakur also did not need to look so ‘tinch’ here.
Same acting of Aditya Kapoor:
Since the film is a suspense thriller, there is a danger of its suspense being revealed as soon as the story goes into detail. And, the acting of the cast of the film is not such that much can be written on it. Aditya Roy Kapur’s brother is the elder producer, so every film of his is well received in the company. Whatever the character does, the artistry remains the same in all of them. Khaki suits Ronit Roy, but when the characters of the story are like Crime Patrol, what can Ronit Roy do? Vedika Pinto definitely charms and Deepak Kalra as crime partner Chaddi has potential.
Vardhan missed in debut film:
If you have seen the film ‘Thadam’, then the film ‘Gumraah’ (2023) stands nowhere in front of it and the one person who is fully responsible for this is the director of the film, Vardhan Ketkar. Had Vardhan, who devoted all his energy to the action sequences, worked a little better on the social and psychological aspects of the film, the film could have proved to be a good entertainer. Now it has become a very average masala film. No one pays much attention to where the level of music has fallen in T-series films. His music videos are fetching views. The cost of films is coming out of OTT rights. Business is going well. No one has any special interest in cinema.
