There is a great demand for psychological thrillers in the world of OTT. Directed by Ajay Behl, ‘Blurr’ serves up a dose of mind-boggling thriller to the viewers. The film begins one night, where Gautami (Taapsee Pannu) is having an argument with someone. But only after a while you realize that Gautami is the only one in the room. We then see blind Gautami trying to hang herself. Then there someone drops the stool placed under Gautami’s feet. Thus begins a story of some dark secrets, eccentric characters and Gautami’s twin sister Gayatri (Taapsee). The story also features Gautami’s husband Neel (Gulshan Devaiah). Along with them is Mahendra Chandel (Sumit Nijhawan), the police officer investigating the death, who is trying to solve the case.

Director Ajay Behl and cinematographer Sudhir Chowdhary have skillfully given the horror treatment to the film. The mountains and the foggy environment help them in this task. As viewers, we keep speculating whether the murderer is a human or something. The art director has added a haunting element to the screen with the Victorian styled villas and dark bylanes. There is tremendous tension in the first half of the film and it scares you on many occasions. For example, there is a scary scene where Gayatri runs away with a group of blind women. There the audience also senses a stranger danger. Ketan Soda’s background score makes these scenes more terrifying.

Those scenes have also become very effective in the film, where we see Gayatri’s eyesight diminishing due to progressive blindness. Taapsee has done excellent acting in this scene. Gulshan Devaiah, Kritika Desai Khan, Gautami’s neighbor Radha Solanki have also done justice to the story. The theme of abandonment is shown in the film after many times. For instance, Neel feels neglected due to the absence of Gayatri, abandoned by Radha’s husband and son.
Taapsee Pannu in Blurr
As thrilled as you feel yourself in the first half of the film. The mixture of fear and thrill that you see in the first half, fades away by the second half. The horror plot disappears somewhere in the film. However, still the film maintains the thriller and suspense, which will keep you glued to the screen till the end.
